Update on the situation regarding Guth nan Gàidheal.

Postby Steaphanaidh Carlyle » August 20th, 2015, 12:03 pm

As you may have noticed, we haven't posted anything relating to our Guth nan Gàidheal (GnG) internet radio initiative lately.

Just to bring you up to date.

Our Internet Radio partner, Hard to Port Radio, ceased to function earlier in the year which left GnG "homeless". We did approach a terrestrial community radio station on Skye with a view to providing programming for them to run, but we ran into some issues with regard to licensing the use of music for such broadcasts (made more difficult no least because both US and UK copyright/royalty licensing would be involved), so we decided to hold off so right now, the Guth nan Gàidheal website (http://gng.acgamerica.org/) still carries podcast versions of our shows "An Saoghal Againne" and 'Mar a chuala mi i", and these are also available via iTunes.

Our GnG Facebook page is still in operation, and if there are any further announcements regarding GnG, they will appear there as well as here on the forum.

Guth nan Gàidheal, a radio initiative originally conceived by An Comunn Gàidhealach Ameireaganach (The American Scottish Gaelic Society, ACGA) and Hard To Port Radio (Baltimore), will be returning via a new Celtic/Folk Internet Radio Station, Rèidio A-Màireach (Baltimore).

Rèidio A-Màireach will commence operations on December 1st, 2015 with Guth nan Gàidheal programming appearing in the weeks following launch.

More details will be posted as soon as they are available.
